Biographie

Alice Creischer, born in Gerolstein in 1960, studied philosophy and German studies at the University of Düsseldorf, as well as free art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Andreas Siekmann was born in Hamm in 1961 and studied free art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Alice Creischer and Andreas Siekmann live in Berlin, they work individually as well as together as a collective. They are active as authors for Springerin, ANYP, and Texte zur Kunst and curate exhibitions, such as Violence is at the Margin of all Things (2002) at the Generali Foundation. In their artistic work, they are concerned with a critical confrontation with politics, society, power structures, and the economy, the privatization of public space, and changing working relations in the era of globalization. In 2004 Alice Creischer and Andreas Siekmann presented their exhibition Ex Argentina – an artistic examination and economic critique of the financial crisis in Argentina in an international context – at Museum Ludwig in Cologne; additional exhibitions took place in 2010 at the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid and at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. They realized the permanent project Monopolartige Produktionen at the Kunstraum Lakeside in Carinthia. Creischer and Siekmann participated in the documenta 12 (2007).
