The mental images of Between Two Wars circle around the analysis of the inter-relationships between technology, labor, economy, and politics as undertaken by the Marxist economist Sohn-Rethel shortly before Hitler seized power. This analysis explains the war of aggression of Ger-man fascism as a consequence of problems in the association of working steel companies about utilizing capacity from the middle of the 1990s. The film maintains a Brechtian distance from the fate of individuals and does not have a historical plot full of intrigue. (Christa Blümlinger)
