Andrea Fraser

The project Untitled was initiated in fall 2002 when Fraser asked the art dealer Fredrich Petzel to find a collector to participate in a project that would involve having sex with the artist in a hotel room and pre-buying a videotape documenting the encounter. The sale was arranged and the artist and collector met at a hotel in New York in early 2003. The resulting video tape, unedited except for the erasure of the sound, was defined as an edition of five, with edition number 1/5 going to the participating collector. Edition number 2/5 was acquired by the Generali Foundation in 2004. (Andrea Fraser, 2013)
