This print is based on “Walt Disney Productions” (1986-95), a series of works in which Lavier enlarged or reconstructed Walt Disney Cartoons in the media of painting, photography, and sculpture. This group of works in the collection of the Generali Foundation was presented in the exhibition “postproduction.” The presentation was photographed and then reproduced in two dimensions using the old technique of helioengraving. The readymade—or rather the insight that the art context is fundamental to the “experience” of art—is the central theme of Lavier’s œuvre.
