"Auftritt des Ich."

"Identitätspolitik und Narrativität"
by Danica Dakić (German)

Panel discussion with Amra Bakšić Čamo, Danica Dakić, Tom Holert, Doris Krystof, Beate Söntgen (Moderation)

April 22, 2010, 7 p.m.

What it means to live in foreign places, to speak foreign tongues, is a central theme in Danica Dakiæ's work. She deals with migration and integration into a new community, but also with exclusion from society on account of mental or physical disabilities. Roaming between cultures emerges as a movement in which geographical spaces, history, and the present are reconfigured. Discussion focuses here on the ways in which language, storytelling, gestures, pictures, music and theater become media of a tentative but self-assured search for a sense of self that must be articulated under the conditions of being foreign.
