Farocki also uses things in counter-intuitive ways. He films theorems where it turns out that theory can also create delirium and that abstraction is also art and a mockery of nature. The characters in the film speak a dialogue composed of sentences and ideas from books. This is consid-ered non-filmic, because films have always been made for us in accordance with a model in which creating illusions takes precedence. Farocki simply favors another, no less genuine filmic possibility. Montage is a means of activating fiction. Then the images start to think. (Frieda Grafe)
